Tile and Stone Maintenance

How to apply a coating sealer to terracotta

My buddy A’nge at Aqua Mix Australia has done it again, a great instructional video showing exactly how to apply a coating sealer, in this case to terracotta type floor tiles. In this video you will see exactly how to apply Seal & Finish Low Sheen for a low sheen or satin look.

In addition to this he then adds a high gloss, sacrificial coating with Floor Shine & Hardener. This will both raise the level of the shine to a high gloss (polished wax look without the hassle)  and help protect the sealer below. It is easy to maintain, and can be topped up as often as required.

    Thanks for info

Just had porcelain tiles installed in my kitchen. Do they need sealing and if so what product is best for sealing the tile and grout. Great info site

    THanks

Hi, at the risk of sounding like a politician, I am going to refer you to an earlier post, where I discussed this. The short answer is: It depends on the porcelain. Hope this helps

    Hi,

We have just moved into a house that has porous, terracotta like (I say that because I can’t be sure) outdoor tiles. The house is nearly 40 years old and I am sure these are the original tiles. In Adelaide, Australia, our water supply is typically hard and the previous owners had garden pots without the stalls under the pot so when they watered their pots, the water would lay on the tiles till it would dry and now the tiles have alot of cloudy water stains across the tiled area and some darker grime stains where one pot sat.
    Where to from here?

    Thanks,
    Steve.

OK, it sounds like this floor is due a deep clean, I would start with a high alkaline cleaner that will remove the build up of general grime. Once that is done you can look to see if you need an acidic cleaner to tackle water marks (from hard water) and any other mineral deposits (although you may find some of these come away in the general deep clean anyway.

You can get advice and products from Aqua-Seal.com.au

    Hope this helps
